Bring the Christmas Spirit into your Lobby

The Laulima Giving Tree

Laulima is Hawaiian for “many hands” working together. Each of us has something to offer and our differences make us stronger as a community. The practice of Laulima is essential to develop, strengthen and support communities and strong communities mean strong families.

Laulima reminds us that universal values are timeless.

Once a year we celebrate the spirit of Laulima with joined action to give back to the community. On the first Saturday in December, we celebrate our Laulima Day, receiving donations of a new, unwrapped toy, household item, sporting goods item, or retail gift cards locally to support keiki, kupuna, and ‘ohana facing difficult times across Hawai’i. One hundred percent of the collected donations go directly to the people we serve.

We invite you to spread the spirit of Laulima with our Laulima Giving Tree.
The tree symbolizes the many hands working together. Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas. Each ornament stands for a child in need. Any guest or employee is welcome to picks an ornament and is asked to donate at least one item like a new unwrapped toy, personal hygiene item, sports equipment or another age-appropriate donation.

All gifts will be collected from under the tree and then delivered to a deserving keiki to brighten the their season.

Laulima Giving Tree

Each year, The Kahala Hotel & Resort displays a ‘Laulima Giving Tree’ in the lobby. Any employee or guest is welcome to pick up an angel ornament. They can donate as many unwrapped toys and gift cards for the keiki on their designated ornament. Last season, we were able to gift 98 keiki with a present.
